I really do not want to call them dupes as they are excellent products. While SKII is considered the best of the best, its Korean counterparts are also all the best of the best.
Essence has been around in the Asian market for decades. I would simply refer to it as the ‘miracle water’ or the ‘star’of the skincare routine. It is the lotion after the liquid wash, the mouthwash after the toothbrush and the conditioner after the shampoo. While it is our choice to use these products, we all know its use and targets.
As we get older, our skin defense is slower than it used to be so we need a superhero like the essence to repair the damage and give the right balance our skin needs.
Essence is used after you double cleanse and use a toner. It is also used after a 20 minute sheet mask. I do not use a facial cotton. I use the palm of my hand to apply it.
If the price of SKII is out of your budget, there are 5 Korean Brands I would recommend as its best counterparts.
Best for Dry Skin: HERA’s Bio Cell Essence. It has an excellent hydrating effect which will leave your skin smooth and plump. The bottle has an indicator as to how much you should use. I use this morning and evening. I have to admit that the feeling after applying is addicting and you wouldn’t dare to stop using it. I recommend this product to those with Dry skin.
Best for Oily Skin: Tony Moly
Best for Normal Skin: Missha Time Revolution Essence
Best for Combination Skin: Innisfree
Best for Sensitive Skin: Nature Republic Ginseng Royal Essence
